PLAINFIELD - Police say they have arrested a teen in connection with the shooting of a 5-year-old boy in Plainfield.

Authorities say 18-year-old Jose Rodriguez, of North Plainfield, shot 5-year-old Jasir Gibson Thursday. Police do not believe the child was the intended target.

Rodriguez is charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

Meanwhile, Gibson is listed in critical but stable condition.
