PERTH-AMBOY - In a bizarre turn of events this morning in Perth Amboy, police say they were summoned to check out a domestic dispute but arrived to find an armed home robbery in progress.

Police say they entered a house on Lorie Street, just off of Perth Amboy Avenue, and found a man with a gun. Investigators say that while officers backed out and waited for SWAT team members to arrive, the suspect escaped.

A woman who lives in the home says the suspect burst through their door and demanded cash. She says she managed to call police from inside of a closet while the suspect had a gun turned on her mother.

Investigators say they found a BB gun across the street. They're describing the suspect as a Hispanic male, wearing dark clothes and a dark-hooded sweatshirt.
