Police search for Nutley home intruder

NUTLEY - Police in Nutley are searching for the suspect who kicked in the back door of a home while a young mother was upstairs with her children.

According to police, the incident happened around 1 p.m. yesterday on Brookline Avenue. They say the intruder took a purse, which was left on the kitchen table and visible from a back window.

Officials say the mother called 911 and remained upstairs until help arrived.

Police say a K-9 unit traced the suspect's scent, but lost it. They hope a large footprint found on the door will help them track down the suspect.
