The prosecutor says there was an exchange of gunfire at the scene between police and the suspect. The suspect fled in the Audi A6, striking one of the officers before fleeing over the George Washington Bridge and into New York.
Two other officers suffered minor injuries in the altercation. None of the officers were shot, and it is unknown whether the suspect was hit.
The vehicle was eventually recovered in Manhattan, but the suspect is still at large.
The officer's duty bag and backpack were stolen from the car. They contained a raid jacket and .45 caliber ammunition.
Officials say the car was used in various undercover operations.
