BELVIDERE - Police say a suspicious item found on the road near Belvidere High School in Warren County was not an explosive device.

Authorities responded to a call around noon today reporting what appeared to be a pipe bomb.

A state police bomb squad robot was used, and officials determined that the item found was a metal pipe made to look like a bomb with wires coming out of it.

About 100 people were evacuated from Belvidere High School during the investigation.

State police, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office and Belvidere police and fire responded to the alarm.
