Police probe triple homicide in Woodland Park

WOODLAND PARK - Police are investigating a triple homicide at a Woodland Park apartment complex.

Witnesses say they heard shots early this morning along Washington Drive.

The Passaic County Prosecutors Office says Stephen Rhyne, of Bergenfield, shot and killed his estranged wife, Maria Rhyne, and another man, Gerry Thomas, before turning the gun on himself.

According to the prosecutor, Maria Rhyne had an active restraining order of protection against Stephen Rhyne. The couple had been separated for approximately one year at the time of the shootings.

It appears the victims had been in a dating relationship at the time of their murders, according to the prosecutor.

The location of the murders has been identified as victim Gerry Thomas' residence, according to police.
