Police probe Newark woman's homicide

NEWARK - (AP) - Law enforcement officials have ruled thedeath of a Newark woman found unresponsive in her car a homicide.

The Essex County Homicide Task force says 37-year-old SilviaPaucar was discovered by her 16-year-old son and her brother in hervehicle in Newark Wednesday night after she failed to return homefollowing night classes.

Paucar was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounceddead at 10:45 p.m.

An autopsy concluded it was a homicide, but police arewithholding the manner of death due to an ongoing investigation.

Essex County Chief of Detectives Anthony Ambrose says policebelieve Paucar was targeted and the killing was not random.
