The assistant Sussex County prosecutor said that the driver of the van was a delivery person and there were cases of liquor inside the van. The prosecutor's office said it is investigating if the large amount of cargo played a part in the crash.

The Vernon Township School District said in a statement that the bus was transporting 37 elementary school students to Rolling Hills Primary School at the time of the crash.

The prosecutor's office also said that none of the children on the bus were seriously injured. Children with minor injuries were treated at the scene.

School officials say counselors will be available to provide support to students or families in need of assistance.
