Police probe death of elderly Irvington woman

IRVINGTON - An investigation is under way into the killing of an elderly woman in Irvington. According to Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray, a person of interest is in custody, but no arrests have been made.

Authorities were called to the Campfield Street home of 88-year-old Casetta Blunt just after midnight Thursday. Officials say she was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is conducting the investigation. The house is still being kept under police supervision.
