Police probe attempted child abduction in Nutley

NUTLEY - Nutley parents are reminding their children about "stranger danger" after police reported an attempted child abduction occurred earlier this week. Cops say it happened at around 6 p.m. Wednesday near Brown and Harrison streets. They say a man approached a 7-year-old boy and offered him candy before trying to grab him.Investigators say the boy was able to run away and tell an adult.Police say the suspect is a heavy-set black man, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing a black T-shirt with profanity, blue jeans and white tennis shoes with stars on them. He was seen driving away in a dark sedan with a dented front fender and a loud muffler.
