MAPLEWOOD - Police are searching for the gunman who shot the owner of a Prospect Street candy and convenience store at approximately 1 p.m. Monday.
Witnesses told police a male suspect wearing dark clothing entered the MS&K Confectionery, and demanded money from the cash register.
The store owner was shot in the torso during a struggle with the suspect, who fled the store on foot.
A customer called 911 when the victim was shot.
Police say the victim survived the shooting and was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
