ORANGE - An Orange police officer has been arrested for inappropriately touching a woman during a traffic stop, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators say that on Nov. 18, Officer Ricardo Arias-Vasquez, 34, pulled a woman over and touched her inappropriately.

News 12 New Jersey spoke exclusively with the alleged victim, who says that after she reported the officer’s behavior, she was harassed by people who told her not to discuss what happened.

“All the threats I’ve been receiving. That’s what I worry about,” she says.

The victim says she was pulled over because she had a tail light out. She says that Arias-Vasquez tried to get her to come home with him.

“He’s telling me, ‘Why don’t you come to my house? It’s only two blocks from here,’” she says.

Arias-Vasquez was charged with criminal sexual contact and witness tampering. He surrendered to the prosecutor Thursday with his attorney. His bail was set at $25,000. He is expected to appear in court on Dec. 30.

The victim says that she has three children and authorities may help her move for her protection.
