Police: Mother, 4 children stabbed

JERSEY CITY - Police in Jersey City say a man stabbed his wife and her four children last night after the couple agreed to separate.

Jersey City Deputy Police Chief Peter Nalbach says 35-year-old Tasheba Finley and her 16-year-old daughter remain hospitalized in serious but stable condition with multiple stab wounds.

Finley's three younger children, ages 10, 8 and 6, are also hospitalized with minor stab wounds.

Police arrested 41-year-old Jai Finley Tuesday night after they said he fled their Rutgers Avenue apartment, crashed his vehicle into a PSE&G power substation and tried climbing a transformer to electrocute himself.

Police say Jai Finley attacked the family with a five-inch hunting knife he kept in the closet in their home.
