NEWARK - The Newark Police Memorial Scholarship Foundation helped five college students finance their future with awards in the name of fallen police officers.

The money comes from various fundraisers and donations.

Isaiah Cromwell, a sophomore at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, says these scholarships give kids and the city hope.

"It's great to receive something from the City of Newark as encouragement to continue to strive for success and to bring back all I can to the City of Newark and help it improve, make it a better place for the younger generations to come," Cromwell says.

The students received scholarships totaling more than $20,000.
