Police: Mary Driscol, of Brick, severely beaten by granddaughter, Katherine Schubert
BRICK TOWNSHIP - A woman in Ocean County has been arrested for allegedly beating her 94-year-old grandmother.
Police say Mary Driscol was beaten so badly at her Courtshire Drive home that she has bleeding on her brain. Residents in the senior community, many grandparents themselves, are horrified that her own granddaughter stands accused of the crime.
"It's terrible, it's terrible," says Beatrice Scozzari. "I have known them since we moved in here."

Katherine Schubert, 37, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the beating. She reportedly lives at the home.
Driscol's daughter and Schubert's friend got worried when they couldn't reach them by phone.
They found found Driscol on Sunday lying in a bed severely beaten with multiple bruises, cuts, and blood shot eyes. Police say Schubert was sitting in the kitchen drunk.
Schubert is being held on a cash-only $150,000 bail. Driscol was taken to the trauma unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
