HAMILTON TOWNSHIP - Authorities in Mercer County are searching for a man who they say stole a car with a 1-year-old girl in the back seat.

Police received a report of a stolen car with a little girl inside at around 6 p.m. Sunday in Hamilton Township.

Investigators say the girl's grandmother parked the car at a gas station and left the girl in the car as she went into a store. The thief then jumped in the car and took off.

Authorities say the woman left her phone in the car, which helped police track it down. The girl was found unharmed in the car a few blocks from the gas station.

The incident was captured on the gas station's security camera.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Joseph Ialacci of the Hamilton Police Division's Criminal Investigations Section at 609-689-5822 or the Hamilton Police Crime Tip Hotline at 609-581-4008.
