EAST BRUNSWICK - One man died in an early morning fire at a senior apartment complex in East Brunswick, authorities say.

The fire started on the second floor of an apartment in the rear of the Hall’s Corner apartment complex.

The senior complex houses those ages 60 and older. Tenants say they began hearing fire alarms at 6:30 a.m. By 7 a.m., firefighters were knocking on doors asking tenants to evacuate.

They say the victim was a wheelchair-bound man in his 60s.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is working to determine the cause of the fire and identify the victim.
