TEANECK - Police say they have arrested a man responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Teaneck last month.

Authorities say Stalin Kappil, 62, is accused of hitting and killing Steven Leitgeb, 59, as he crossed the street.

As News 12 reported, Leitgeb was hit at the intersection of Cedar Lane and Garrison Avenue at around 7 p.m. on Dec. 25.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Prosecutors say Kappil turned himself in to police.

Kappil is charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
