Police investigating New Brunswick stray bullet fatality

NEW BRUNSWICK - Police say a man was killed by a stray bullet on Birch Court in New Brunswick today.

Officials say Richard Chang, 40, was pronounced dead in his home at 3:40 p.m. after police received several calls reporting gunfire in the vicinity.

Neighbors say that the shooting might have been avoided if the gate to their gated community had been repaired. Residents say that it has not worked in two years.

Investigators say Chang was struck by a stray bullet fired outside of his home and that they don't think he was the intended victim.
