Police ID man, woman in fatal Irvington shooting

Authorities have identified the two victims who were shot to death last night on Myrtle Avenue in Irvington.According to Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Saleenah Baines,

IRVINGTON - Authorities have identified the two victims who were shot to death last night on Myrtle Avenue in Irvington.

According to Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Saleenah Baines, a 25-year-old pregnant mother, was fatally shot last night after exiting a car with her friend, Laquan Woods, who would have turned 25 years old today. Both victims were residents of Irvington.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of Myrtle Avenue, near the St. Leo's Catholic school and church. Authorities say an unknown person drove up and opened fire on the couple.

Woods died at University Hospital in Newark a short time later, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. Baines was pronounced dead at the scene.
