TINTON FALLS - Police and other first responders held an active school shooting drill at Monmouth Regional High School Monday to practice their response to an actual large scale emergency.

The mock scenario involved two gunmen in a room at the school. Surveillance footage released by school officials shows patrol cars pulling up to the school after a 911 call, officers entering the building, and drawing dummy guns on the "suspects."

A mock command center was set up in the council room at the Tinton Falls Municipal Complex. All 1,100 students at the school were evacuated to the complex, which is across the street.

"Things like this can happen in real life," says Mayor Mike Skudera. "We hope it never happens in Tinton Falls, but we're using this drill to prepare to make sure we're ready in case something does happen."
