Police find human remains inside Jersey City apartment

JERSEY CITY - Jersey City police say they found human remains inside an apartment building which they believe to be those of a woman who was reported missing last month.

Yesterday, police brought in a hazmat team and removed a 55-gallon drum from a home on Charles Street after residents reported smelling a strong odor. Sources tell News 12 New Jersey that police tore up a freshly paved concrete basement floor, and that the drum may contain human remains. Amanda "Randy" Lehrer, who lived in the home with her husband, Steven Acuna, and their 11-month-old daughter, hasn't been seen since her husband reported her missing in August. Police say Acuna hasn't been cooperative with their investigation. Friends of missing Jersey City mom continue search
