Police discover pipe bomb in Montclair

MONTCLAIR - Authorities discovered a pipe bomb near a home in Montclair this morning.

Essex County bomb squad members detonated the device found on the driveway of 38 Aubrey Road.

Officials say the homeowner discovered the device while backing out of his driveway around 6:45 a.m.

Police and fire crews shut down the road and evacuated 15 families from their homes during investigation. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 10 a.m.

Authorities are working to determine where the device came from.
