CARTERET - A father of three was killed in a domestic dispute in Carteret, according to police.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office says Amaury Maldonado was fatally stabbed inside the Carteret house he had shared with his wife from whom he had recently separated. Police say the victim was left on the Elm Street sidewalk early Thursday morning.
Friends and relatives say Maldonado remained loyal and active in the lives of his three sons. "He was a good father," says one neighbor. "He always had his boys, was outside with them, taking them to football practice. He was a very good father."

Two unnamed people inside the house left after the attack, but police haven't named a suspect and no one is charged at this time.
Maldonado's cousin, Luis Cruz, says he's in shock. "He was a good person with a good heart, he didn't deserve to die like this."
The mayor of Carteret posted a statement to Twitter telling residents that the attack was not random and that there is no immediate threat to the rest of the community.
