NUTLEY - Police are investigating whether a recent spree in car break-ins is related to a home break-in in Nutley.

Several cars were targeted along Grant Avenue and Burnett Place, and police believe the same suspect burglarized a home while the family was sleeping.

Police say the suspect or suspects broke in sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Officials say the suspect got in through an open first-floor window and ransacked the home.

They say the suspect then found car keys and took off with the Toyota that was sitting in the driveway.

Nutley police are working with the Essex County prosecutor's office to investigate the break-ins.
