SPRING LAKE - Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in a serious boat crash that happened overnight in Spring Lake.

Officials say three people were on board when a 25-foot boat hit a jetty near the Newark Avenue Beach.

Emergency crews quickly responded and jumped into the sea to rescue the boaters.

The man operating the boat, Thomas McGinley, of Toms River, was arrested and charged with boating under the influence, pending the results of a toxicology report.
