LACEY - Police say a 44-year-old Ocean County man is listed in critical condition after he collided with a car while riding his bicycle over the weekend.

Sgt. Robert Flynn says the accident occurred around 10:22 a.m. Sunday in Lacey after the Toms River man turned his bicycle around to pick up an item he had dropped.

Flynn says the victim collided with a Hyundai driven by a Forked River man as he made a move to turn around in the westbound lane of West Lacey Road.

Police say the man was thrown from his bicycle and suffered injuries described as serious by officers.

First-responders performed CPR on the bicyclist and he was taken by medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of family.
