NEPTUNE - An extensive manhunt in Neptune is over. Neptune Deputy Police Chief Jim Hunt tells News 12 New Jersey that police have arrested the man who had a confrontation with a worker at a QuickChek.

The man allegedly brandished a handgun and left the store on Route 33 early Friday morning after not leaving enough money for a soda. During the incident, Hunt says the man ran into the woods near Route 33 and the Garden State Parkway. Authorities were searching an area of Shark River Park along Schoolhouse Road.

Police said the man may be suicidal or emotionally disturbed.

Earlier, police had shut down Route 33 and the exit ramps on the Garden State Parkway while the initial search was conducted. People living along Schoolhouse Road were also told to remain in their homes while they looked for the man.
