NEWARK - Major crimes detectives have a suspect with outstanding warrants in custody after surrounding a home in Newark where the man was barricaded inside.

Officers were called to a home on Kent Street just after 3 p.m. Wednesday on reports that Khadeem Murchinson, 21, was barricaded inside with a weapon.

Police found Murchinson inside the home, armed with a sawed-off shotgun. After a brief conversation, he surrendered to police.

Murchinson has been arrested for several open warrants and was charged with possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
