Police: 4 fatally shot over the weekend in Newark

NEWARK - Police are investigating two more fatal shootings overnight in Newark after two other people were shot and killed early Saturday morning.

Officials say one man was killed on Fabyan Place and another was killed on Eastern Parkway.

Mayor Corey Booker says the recent police layoffs have nothing to do with this wave of violence and the new homicide task force is equipped to investigate these murders.

Residents say that they believe the murder rate will keep going up as long as there is no respect for human life.
