Police: 23 injured when tour bus overturns in Wayne

WAYNE - Police say 23 people were injured this morning when a tour bus carrying 56 passengers turned over on its side in Wayne.

Police say the incident occurred on the eastbound Route 80 exit ramp toward Route 46 at about 7:45 a.m.

Officials say the tour bus was coming from Canada and heading to a church event in Brooklyn. Max 2000 Charters of Toronto, identified by state police as the bus company, is not allowed to operate according to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration due to its history of safety violations.

Police say none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Investigator's are currently questioning the 51-year-old bus driver, although they say it is too early to know what caused him to lose control.
