JACKSON - Jackson police are investigating a fatal accident that killed two teenage girls. According to the Asbury Park Press, the girls are sisters.

Police say the crash happened around 5:20 p.m. this evening. Investigators say the teenage driver lost control of her car as she traveled north on South Hope Chapel Road. Her car hit another car head on.

According to police, the teen driver was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her sister was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Asbury Park Press, the teens have been identified as 17-year-old Jamie Nicholson and her sister Francesca.

The operator of the other vehicle, a 47-year-old Toms River man, sustained minor injuries from the crash.

According to police, wet roads and excessive speed for conditions are being investigated as contributing factors to the crash.
