Police: 12-year-old boy shot, killed in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY - Jersey City police are investigating a shooting that killed a 12-year-old boy earlier tonight.

Jassmine Lewis, the boy's mother, says her son, Haas, was shot around 6 p.m. at 293 Randolph Ave.

Hudson County prosecutors say they are on the scene trying to determine if this was a homicide or an accidental shooting. Sources say that a boy was playing with his parents' gun when it went off, killing his friend.

Police say no arrests have been made. Officials say they are interviewing several witnesses to determine what happened.
