PATERSON - An early morning shooting in Paterson killed a 27-year-old man and seriously injured a woman, police say.

The shooting happened at around 4 a.m. on North Sixth Street.

Police say at least one of the victims was inside a parked BMW near Temple Street, where the man was found on the sidewalk. The vehicle appeared to have at least two bullet holes before police towed it away.

The woman was found nearby at 58 North Sixth St.

Witnesses report hearing between seven and nine gunshots.

Police have not yet released the identities of the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
