Police: 1 dead after car falls down Edgewater cliff

EDGEWATER - Police say one person has died after the 37-year-old's car crashed through a fence and down a cliff in Edgewater overnight.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the driver of a GMC SUV to drive off the cliff along Gorge Road.

The incident occurred at around 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning. Relatives have confirmed the driver was Heriberto Alicea, of Fairview. Police say the 37-year-old's truck came to a rest behind the Aventine Condominium complex.

The SUV did not hit the condominium complex. Police say no one else was hurt.
