POINT PLEASANT BEACH - Point Pleasant Beach became a ghost town Saturday night after residents spent much of the day roaming the boardwalk before Hurricane Irene.

As heavy rain and strong wind gusts moved in, those living east of the railroad tracks heeded a mandatory evacuation order and found shelter elsewhere.
