Playground hero rewarded for saving friend's life at Atlantic City ceremony

The second grader who saved his choking friend on a Newark playground has been nominated for the outstanding youth award.

NEWARK - The second grader who saved his choking friend on a Newark playground has been nominated for the outstanding youth award.

Back in June, William Ruhno gave his friend Derek Almeida the Heimlich maneuver after Derek started choking on a pretzel.

William and his family were in Atlantic City tonight for the 15th annual EMS awards banquet where he received an award.
