PLAINFIELD - A woman is recovering from serious injuries after being attacked by two dogs on a Plainfield street Saturday.

A bystander recorded the brutal attack on West Seventh Avenue and the attempts to separate the victim from the animals. K'shawn Scott and Shannon Gwynn were driving through the neighborhood at approximately 6 p.m. when they saw the victim clinging to a utility pole.

Neighbor Winsome McCleary saw the attack from a window. McCleary says the dogs' owners tried to protect the victim during the attack, but could not. Police responded to the scene and also tried to get the dogs to let go of their grip, but were forced to shoot and kill both dogs.

The dog owners would not speak to News 12 New Jersey Tuesday night.
