Pilot program would lengthen school day, year

EDISON - The school year may be getting a little longer for New Jersey students.

A bill that would install a three-year pilot program to lengthen school days and the school year is currently in the works. The plan still needs to be approved by the legislature and the governor.

The bill reflects a growing push by many educators who believe American students need to catch up with advanced education levels abroad.
