Phone interview with owner of dogs killed by cops in Highland Park

HIGHLAND PARK - Two pit bulls were shot by police after they allegedly attacked a Jack Russell Terrier near an elementary school in Highland Park.

David Compton tells News 12 New Jersey his dogs posed no danger to anyone and have never attacked before. Compton even said one of the pit bulls was a show dog.

The owner claims someone opened his gates and let the dogs loose.

The terrier, named Roco, was leashed to a pole in its backyard that was dug into the ground when he was attacked.
