Personal information released by Rockaway Township

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP - Rockaway Township resident Tucker Kelly asked for Public Records of how the town was spending its money.

Kelly didn't expect that along with the records, he'd receive 1,500 pages of personal information, including Social Security numbers of everyone who had business with the town in the past five years.

Personal information of the fire chief, local prosecutors and at least two judges were revealed in the report. It was enough information to make them all victims of identity theft.

Kane in Your Corner found out that e-mails from the town show at least three different town employees signed off on releasing the information, including the chief financial officer and clerk.

The town told Kane in Your Corner that no one was able to speak on camera regarding the issue. The town administrator said over the phone that as far as he knows, it is the only time the town released personal information and he intends to make sure it doesn't happen again.
