PLAINFIELD - A New Jersey Transit train struck a person early this morning near the Plainfield rail station.

A NJ Transit spokesperson says the person is alive and was taken to a hospital. The identity of the victim was not released.

The Raritan Valley Line train was headed to Newark with about 150 passengers aboard when the accident occurred at around 5:25 a.m. The passengers were transferred to another train.

The accident caused delays on Raritan Valley trains for about 90 minutes.
