PEQUANNOCK - A new incentive program in Pequannock has consumers excited to shop locally.

Township officials are considering a plan that would give every resident a rewards card that could be used for discounts at participating local stores. The amount saved would be applied toward that person's property tax bill.

The goal is to help drum up business for local merchants and stimulate the town's economy.

The program is expected to be rolled out in Pequannock within the next six months.
