TOMS RIVER - (AP) - Police have ticketed a New Jersey woman who was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a highway.
    
Toms River police tell the Asbury Park Press 37-year-old Crystal Scholz was not using the crosswalk when she stepped into traffic on Route 37 early Saturday.
    
A woman had told police she thought she had hit something.
    
Scholz sustained a laceration and swelling to her head.
    
The driver will not be charged.
