Pedestrian struck, killed on Route 9 in Old Bridge

Authorities have reopened a stretch of Route 9 in Old Bridge after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle.

OLD BRIDGE - Authorities have reopened a stretch of Route 9 in Old Bridge after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The incident happened in the southbound lanes near Perrine Road. The roadway was shut down just south of Route 34 for several hours.

Police say the woman tried crossing Route 9 south at around 3:30 a.m. It is believed that she did not have the right of way when trying to cross. She was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim.

Anyone with any information about the accident should contact the Old Bridge Police Traffic and Safety Bureau at 732-679-5959.
