NEPTUNE - Children undergoing treatment at K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital in Neptune were treated to a special visit by some of New Jersey’s finest.
Dozens of New Jersey state troopers were on hand to visit with the kids in the intensive care unit, pediatric unit and on-site child care program. Specialists at the hospital say that these types of visits are beneficial for the children.
"It really helps normalize the environment for the kids while they are here and kind of changes the day up and their routine and gives them something to look forward to,” says certified childlife specialist Samantha Nocito.
The troopers also received servant leadership training, which allowed them to know exactly how to approach the children.
This is the first time the troopers visited the patients at this hospital. Officials hope that there are more events like these in the future.
