Paterson teachers protest lack of contract
PATERSON - Teachers in Paterson took to the streets on Saturday to protest the fact that they haven't had a contract in place for the last four years.
The teachers picketed outside of JFK High School, where the district was holding a job fair.
There are 3,200 teachers in the district who have been trying to negotiate retroactive raises dating to their last contract.

The teachers' union is in negotiations with the state Department of Education. Another round of negotiations is set for April 2.
The teachers say they chose to protest outside the job fair because they believe they should have a new deal in place before any new hires are made.
