FORT CAMPBELL, KY - Paterson soldier Pfc. Kevin Rodriguez was shot and killed during a training exercise, Tuesday, according to officials at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

The 22-year-old Rodriguez enlisted in the army in 2013.

Rodriguez served a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan and won nine awards, including the Army Commendation Medal and the NATO Medal.

Both of Rodriguez's parents live in Paterson.

According to a statement from the U.S. Army, the death remains under investigation, but was considered an accident.
