PATERSON - A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend is behind bars after eight days on the run.

Police say Raheem Jones and his former girlfriend, Latasha Smith, had a history of domestic violence, including two restraining orders.

Police say Jones fatally stabbed Smith on Dec. 12, just one day after being released from the Logan Hall halfway house in Newark.

Previously, Jones had served nearly six years in prison on unrelated manslaughter and drug charges.

Jones was arrested this morning in Plainfield. He is awaiting arraignment in Passaic County court.
