PATERSON - A local elected official worked today for just $5 an hour to raise awareness for low-wage workers.
Paterson Councilman Andre Sayegh did some landscaping work as part of a challenge from a charity called "The Random Act."
"I've worked for minimum wage and above minimum wage and I know how hard it is working paycheck to paycheck," says the resident who asked him to take on the task, Erica Maven. "So it's kind of the right thing to do."
The Random Act challenge is part of an international competition to raise awareness about a variety of issues.
The winner goes to Croatia with actor Misha Collins, who founded the charity.
